Associate Attorney

We are searching for a highly motivated associate attorney in our Family Law group. Candidates for this position must have a minimum of 3 + years of relevant Family Law litigation and mediation experience. The associate attorney will be responsible for all aspects of a client's case (with supervision) including communicating with clients and other counsel, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, preparing for and attending court hearings etc. Expertise in legal drafting a must, as is courtroom experience as second chair.


Requirements

  • Substantive knowledge concerning the statutes, regulations and rules affecting Family Law
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities both in the court/hearing rooms and in internal meetings, including strong written and verbal skills and the ability to effectively explain complex legal issues to non-lawyers.
  • Ability to handle high asset, high conflict and complex cases
  • Ability to self-start and to work independently, but also the ability to work collaboratively with the flexibility that allows the input of others.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and strong critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to efficiently execute multiple time-sensitive projects.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information effectively and translate complicated issues into actionable recommendations and solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and nurture strong relationships with associates across the organization.
  • Outstanding reputation of professional integrity and ability to be immediately, personally credible within the firm and in the community.
  • Foster company success through a professional appearance, being courteous to clients and all Lonich & Patton associates and staff by having a positive attitude.
  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office, Abacus, Disso Master and other software applications.

Education and Experience

  • J.D. Degree and admission to practice law in the state of California is required.
  • Active membership of the bar in good standing in California
  • 3+ years of Family Law w/ Finance background experience required.
