About Sonora Vanderberg

Sonora Vanderberg joined Lonich Patton Erlich Policastri as an associate in 2024. She is a passionate, empathic, and enthusiastic attorney who values finding amicable solutions to families struggling with divorce and custody issues.

Sonora attended The Ohio State University, receiving an undergraduate degree in Environmental Policy and Decision Making. She spent a year off working in the financial sector, learning the intricacies of personal and corporate finance. She attended law school at The Ohio State University, simultaneously receiving a Master’s degree in Public Policy. During her time in law school, Sonora worked for a family law firm for two years, getting her first experience with divorce, custody, and support issues. She acted as the online editor for the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law and earned a CALI award for excellence in Tax Policy. She also conducted a research project and was allowed to present her findings to the Columbus City Council.

After graduating from law school, Sonora returned to her Bay Area roots and took the California Bar. After passing the bar in 2019 and working in the public sector, Sonora returned to family law. She has experience representing clients in domestic violence, child custody, visitation and support, and contested divorce actions. She is always looking for collaborative solutions to the complex problems individuals face in these situations, preferring to empower her clients with choices.

In her spare time, Sonora enjoys jigsaw puzzles, reading, walking her dog, Scout, and keeping up with her four teenage siblings.
